Ideas and philosophies often come packaged attractively, appearing thoughtful, progressive, or insightful. Yet appearances can be misleading. Just as a beautifully designed book may contain poor content, teachings that seem appealing can still lead us away from truth.

The Bible reminds us that true wisdom has a very specific starting point: “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom” (Job 28:28). This “fear” is not terror, but reverence—a deep respect for God’s authority, holiness, and truth. It means recognizing that God’s understanding far surpasses our own.

In the Garden of Eden, the serpent presented deception in an appealing way, making disobedience appear wise and desirable. That same pattern continues today.
