A Prayer for Satisfaction in Jesus

The lyrics of the hymn Satisfied With Jesus go, “I am satisfied, I am satisfied, I am satisfied with Jesus, but the question comes to me when I think of Calvary, is my master satisfied with me?”
This is a thought-provoking question, but most of the time, it isn’t our focus. Our focus is on our own contentment and satisfaction with Jesus. Have you found satisfaction in Jesus? We live in a world of instant gratification. No one likes waiting, and people lack patience. But when it comes to Jesus, are we satisfied in Him?
The question is, do we believe that Jesus is more than enough for us? Many things capture our attention in this world, including exotic travel, food, people, success, careers, and more. The thing is, they all promise to satisfy us, but most of the time they leave us empty. Only Jesus can fill the void and longing in our hearts.
I think of the Samaritan woman who shared Jesus with her whole village. She was searching for satisfaction in the wrong places, and no one was able to fill the emptiness in her life until she found satisfaction in Jesus. The Bible tells us she had 5 husbands before, and now she was living with a man who wasn’t her husband. It seems to me she was looking for someone to fill her heart. Jesus knew, and he had to go through Samaria to meet her. Everyone in the village knew who she was, so when she called for them to meet Jesus, there was no shame or need to conceal her identity. She was filled with food from the bread of life himself, so she would hunger no more. We don’t know what her life was like after she met with Jesus, but as soon as Jesus met her needs, she knew she had to share him with everyone.
Satisfaction can manifest differently for each of us. Some people face more hardships than others, but we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. We can become complacent and forget the price that Jesus suffered on Calvary so we can have the gift of salvation. Perhaps you’ve been brushing it aside and resenting what others have, while your life feels empty or lacking. But God meets our needs, He provides our daily bread, He sustains our lives, He protects us day after day, He gives us new mercies each morning, and the list can go on and on.
I pray that you find satisfaction and contentment in Jesus today if you have been craving satisfaction from things of this world that can never truly satisfy. Look at many of the rich celebrities in the world. They have everything that money can buy, and yet they are depressed. Having many things won’t bring true satisfaction, but you have Jesus, and you can be satisfied with him. Don’t let comparison steal your joy. Rejoice in your salvation and be content and satisfied with Jesus.

Dear Gracious Lord,
Thank you for what you did on the cross of Calvary for me. Thank you for satisfying my hunger and thirst for righteousness. I’m so full of gratitude for all that you are and mean to me, dear Lord. Everything that I have isn’t by coincidence. You have given me life and numerous blessings that I cannot count. Help me to keep my gaze and focus fixed on you always because you are in total control. Help me to be satisfied with what you have given to me. Don’t allow my mind to wander into ‘what if,’ but to praise and magnify you for your goodness to me.
You have given me a long life and will satisfy me all my days. Thank you for your protection and your peace that passes all understanding. Help me to be completely satisfied in you, no matter what prayers remain unanswered in my life. I trust that your answer is on the way and will keep coming to you daily. I don’t want to be outside of your will, dear Lord. Help me to trust in your plan because your thoughts are higher than my own, and your way is always better. I pray that I will always be satisfied with you, oh Lord.
