TONIGHT'S SCRIPTURE

Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

SOMETHING TO PONDER

Psalm 46 is a Psalm written by the sons of Korah, a group of Levites who served as musicians in the temple. They write in this Psalm about a chaotic and tumultuous world. In their mind, they are looking back on incidents like the Assyrian Siege of Jerusalem, but even today, when we think about it, our world doesn’t look much different. We live in a chaotic and tumultuous time, also.

This Psalm begins by looking at God as our ever-present help. Maybe you find yourself this evening in need, in want, in desperation. Oh, friend, I would love to remind you that our God is with you, He is providing for you, even when your eyes cannot see it, or your mind or the devil tells you He isn’t.

This Psalm tells us that when the mountains fall, waters roar and foam, and life is precarious, that the Lord is a fortress, somewhere we can hide and rest. The word fortress here means a strong place, one that cannot be invaded or influenced by the outside world. In God we are held and supported.

Even in the midst of the pain these men are remembering, or even in the moment you find yourself in, no matter how desperate, this Psalm declares loudly that we find security in the presence of God

I wanted to remind you today that your security, your peace, your provision, and wisdom are all found in Jesus. You are in the right place if you are in His presence!

One day Jesus will return, and when He does, we will know in reality what we now know by faith, one day our faith will be sight, and we will see Jesus’ face to face.

I hope as you rest your head tonight, you behold Him, the one who saved you, redeemed you, is sanctifying and providing for you. Rest in worship and reflect on the great things that God has done, allowing faith to rise that He will be the same God for you again.

Rest easy, friend.

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Father,
As we lay our heads down on pillows, or cushions, or wherever we find ourselves, I pray that we would rest in the knowledge that you are coming back for your family, for your children. One day, all of the pain we live in, or the chaos we encounter, will be a distant memory as we will see you face to face.
I pray tonight for all of the things that are outside of our control, Father, we give those to you and ask that you would do what is right, that your will would be done in all of our unknown circumstances.
We love you.
Amen

THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

1. Remember, friend, even in the silent hours of the night, our father is still listening, he still sees you and hears you. So when you cannot sleep, chat to the Father who never sleeps nor slumbers.

2. Be still and know I am God, is easy said, but sometimes we have to remind ourselves that being still is a Holy thing and we can trust God with the outcomes.

3. One day, our savior will come back for us, and what a day of celebrating that will be. Look ahead today and remind yourself you are not forgotten, Jesus is preparing a place for you, and rest in that knowledge.
