Your Nightly Prayer

A Prayer for Wisdom for Tomorrow
Your Nightly Prayer for Mar. 12, 2025

TONIGHT'S SCRIPTURE

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” - James 1:5

SOMETHING TO PONDER

This passage is such a comforting promise! God doesn't hold back on giving us His wisdom. He doesn't shame us for not knowing what to do. Instead, God gives generously—without hesitation, without judgment. All He asks is that we come to Him, ask, and trust that He will guide us. I'm so thankful for this. Proverbs 3:5-6 further reminds us:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."

When we're unsure of what tomorrow holds, we can be confident that God's wisdom is steady, His guidance is perfect, and His timing is always right. When my daughter, Taylor, was battling disease before she graduated from heaven, I remember staring at my planner late one night, feeling like every box needed to be checked. A speaking engagement that felt bigger than me, a doctor's appointment that would probably take longer than I wanted, and dinner plans that felt more like an obligation than a joy. Each issue seemed small, but together they were suffocating. I whispered, "Lord, I need Your wisdom. Show me what matters most tomorrow."

The following day, I remember waking up with a sweet clarity. It wasn't dramatic—no thunderclap revelation—but a gentle nudge in my spirit. I sensed God directing me to let go of the less important tasks and focus on what mattered. I talked to my husband and called off the dinner with friends. One decision at a time, the Lord helped me navigate the day with peace instead of panic. I'm sure I didn't accomplish everything perfectly that day. Still, I was learning to trust Him to guide me through the ordinary moments. And often, that's precisely how God's wisdom shows up—not in loud answers, but in quiet clarity.

Whatever decisions you're facing tomorrow—big or small—God cares. He sees the tension in your heart and the uncertainty in your mind, and He's ready to guide you. You don't have to carry the pressure of getting everything right. Instead, you can rest knowing that God's wisdom is always available and His guidance is perfect.

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
As I lay down tonight, I bring You the decisions. You see every detail, every uncertainty, and every place where I feel unsure. I crave Your wisdom, Lord—the kind that cuts through confusion and brings peace to my mind.
Help me trust that You will guide me, even when I can't see the whole picture. Remind me that I don't have to figure everything out alone because You are with me. Thank You for giving wisdom generously without holding back. I surrender tomorrow to You, knowing that Your ways are higher and Your timing is perfect. In Jesus' name,
Amen.

THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

1. A Moment of Stillness: Recall a quiet moment from today—a pause between tasks, a peaceful breath, or a glimpse of beauty in your surroundings. Let that stillness remind you that God is present in the noise and the calm.

2. A Lesson Learned: What challenged you today? Maybe a mistake, a tough conversation, or an unexpected detour. What wisdom can you carry forward from that moment?

3. A Glimpse of Grace: Remember a small, unexpected blessing from today. Maybe it was a kind gesture from a stranger, a smile from a loved one, or even just the sun's warmth on your face. Let that grace remind you of God's goodness, even in the simplest things.

As you drift off to sleep, remember this: God is already in your tomorrow. His wisdom goes before you, His peace walks beside you, and His love covers every step.
