1. A Prayer for One Last “Hoorah”

Lord, please help my family enjoy the final days of summer break without dread. I pray for one last “hoorah,” which could be anything from an overnight camping trip to a mini-vacayor even a leisurely concert in the park. Please provide last-minute opportunities, even unexpected ones, where we can connect with each other and build wonderful memories long remembered. When anxious thoughts try to ruin the moment, help me refocus on the activity at hand and truly appreciate my family’s company. I ask for activities and events that are both affordable and enjoyable, as we soak up the remaining days of summer break. Thank You for caring so much about every detail of our lives. I am grateful for the time spent with my loved ones and for every opportunity, big or small. In Jesus’ name, amen.

2. A Prayer for God’s Provision

Lord, Your Word says You are Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider, and I know this to be true. Please provide everything my child needs for the upcoming school year. You know how long the list is and how expensive things are these days. Give me the willingness to be resourceful and reuse what I can. Lead me to other moms who are also being mindful and willing to swap clothes, backpacks, and other supplies. Help our family have healthy discussions about school expenses so that our kids know what things cost. Provide a deep sense of contentment in all of our children so they’re not running after the latest, greatest fashion statements or most expensive items. Most of all, thank You for removing all worry and stress, and providing as only You can. We trust Your faithful supply for the upcoming school year and beyond. In Jesus’ powerful name, amen.

3. A Prayer for Preparation to Learn

Lord, please give me the discipline needed to incorporate more time for reading, writing, and math. I want to prepare my children to learn and enjoy learning. Show me how to make things fun through interactive computer games, board games, and instructional videos. Help me set my agenda aside and spend time teaching my kids essential life skills to equip them for the new school year. Please soften my child’s heart to accept the new routine and be willing to invest time in learning. Remove all negative messaging around school and dispel any resistance to furthering their education. Help us prepare as a family, stepping into our unique gifts and talents and encouraging one another to excel as God leads. Let our preparation become an act of worship, as we steward our minds, bodies, and spirits to glorify You in all things. Thank You for the variety of ways we get to learn and the freedoms we have in this country to attend school. Please go before my children, placing a hedge of protection around them, in Jesus’ name, amen.

4. A Prayer for Good Communication with Teachers

Lord, as I dread the end of summer, I am apprehensive about meeting my children’s teachers. Many what-ifs are running through my mind, and I desperately need Your perfect peace. Please let my initial meeting with their teachers be positive and encouraging. Help me step outside of my comfort zone and serve my child’s educators through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and plenty of grace. Most of all, help them see You in me, as a living example of what it means to follow You. I pray for kind teachers who are patient, understanding, and willing to work with my family through complex issues. Give them the strength, wisdom, and patience needed to manage their classrooms well. Help them connect with my child, and every childin meaningful ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.

5. Unity in the Home

Lord, I can feel the tension in our home as the school year approaches. It sometimes feels like our family is falling apart due to the anxiety and stress. Please bring a sense of calm and peace to the situation and open the lines of communication. Help our children feel loved, safe, and valued as they share their worries and concerns. Give us wisdom as parents to know how to answer and assure them that everything will be okay. As we wind down these lazy days of summer, bind us together in unity through prayer, Bible study, worship, and fellowship. You are our constant source of peace, and I pray for renewed peace in our home. Cover us as we transition from summer break to the start of school. Help us ease into the new routine with eager expectation and joyful anticipation. In Jesus’ holy name, amen.
