1. Go on a Hayride

Autumn is an exciting time for dates in general because it is not too hot or too cold. One fun Halloween date night idea for couples is going for a hayride. Hayrides give us a chance to reconnect with nature and form new memories with our partner. The beautiful, colorful leaves can be the perfect atmosphere for a lovely date.

Talk with your date about what has been going on in their life. If it is a first date, try to keep the conversation more lighthearted. If you have been together for years, use this time to talk about anything that has been on your heart. Maybe it is talking about how the fall season makes you feel or how you want to start planning a long-term future together.

2. Bake Halloween-Themed Cookies

Baking is always a great idea for couples. You can make cookies from scratch with your date and go to the grocery store to get all your ingredients. It can be a fun and bonding experience to buy needed items at the grocery store and then come home to prepare the cookies. Doing an activity together can help you connect with your date. Whether this is your third, fourth, or hundredth date, baking Halloween-themed cookies will be much fun and an opportunity to form new memories.

Even if you are not an expert baker, you can purchase premade Halloween cookies at the grocery store. They are normally plain sugar cookies with a pumpkin design on the front. Sometimes there are also ghosts, bats, or other Halloween-themed pictures. Those cookies are remarkably easy to make. Just bake them in the oven and voila—they're ready!

3. Watch Halloween Movies

I am not a fan of horror, so I try to stick to non-scary Halloween movies. A few recommendations that I have include:

Halloweentown

Casper

Monsters Inc.

Scooby-Doo

Ghostbusters

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

These movies might seem a bit "kiddish," but they are safe and wholesome. If a couple wants to watch a scarier movie, then it is entirely up to them. You should never force your date to watch a horror movie if they don't want to. If your date finds them too frightening, choose one of the Halloween movies listed above. It is better to look to your date's interests rather than your own (Philippians 2:4).

Allowing your date to choose the movie could also be an option. This will give you a chance to learn more about your date, while also watching a new movie together. Just make sure not to make fun of their selection, which could be hurtful. Be excited for their movie selection and enjoy spending time with your date.

4. Host a Halloween Party

Another fun Halloween date idea for couples is hosting a Halloween party. This is an innovative idea if you are still in the beginning stages with your date, as it doesn't place all the pressure on you or your date to keep the conversation going. At the Halloween party, you can organize fun games to play or movies to watch. Making Halloween-themed snacks would also be an inventive idea.

As for the invite list, ensure you only invite people who are aware that this will be a fun Halloween party, not one filled with seances. You don't want people trying to turn your Halloween party into something it is not. If this happens, it could leave a bad impression on you and your date.

"Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips" (Proverbs 14:7). Only invite friends who are like-minded when it comes to having a wholesome Halloween.

5. Go to the Pumpkin Patch and Carve Pumpkins

If you and your date have been together for a long time, a great date idea could be going to the pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins. It can be a lovely bonding experience to pick out a pumpkin or two together and then carve it. You might be surprised at what kind of pumpkin your date picks out and what design then will carve into it.

If there are no pumpkin patches near you, consider visiting a local supermarket or home improvement store. Just because they are not from a pumpkin patch doesn't make them any less of a great pumpkin to carve! The fun part is talking with your date as you pick out your pumpkins, and then getting to decorate them. Many fun conversations can arise, and many memories will be made.

6. Roller Skate

In my hometown, it is common to go roller skating on Halloween. Whether you are single or you are going with a date, roller skating can be a fun idea for Halloween. When you go with your date, make sure they know the plan ahead of time. If they are dressed up for a fancy dinner, it will make roller skating a bit difficult. To prevent any confusion, ensure you communicate ahead of time the correct attire and what to expect for the date.

Some rinks allow the skaters to wear their costumes. If you and your date wanted, you could wear matching costumes or a themed costume together. While some couples might feel cringey, others may think it's a lot of fun. Think about a fun matching costume you could do, like Mickey and Minnie or Donald and Daisy.

7. Take an Art Class

A final idea for a Halloween date night is to attend a Halloween-themed art class. Depending on your own local area, this might be at a library or an art center. You might need to prepare ahead of time, as many art classes require you to book your seat and your date's seat in advance. This might mean booking a week or two ahead of time.

Once you and your date go to the Halloween art class, you will get to know each other more. If your date is really interested in art, it tells you they are creative. If art isn't their thing, they might prefer other activities, which is important to know, too. Liking art or not is not a dealbreaker, but it can be helpful when planning future dates.

If they are more the outdoorsy type, you could plan a hiking trip or rock climbing. If you discover that they love books. For your next date, you could offer to go to a bookstore or to check out your local library.

If there are no art classes in your area, you could do your own Halloween art class with your date at home. This might be painting a Halloween-themed picture, doing pottery, or another form of art. Even just picking up a craft from a department store can be a fun Halloween date night for you and your partner.
