Worship Leader Wows with 'Goodness of God' Rendition on American Idol

A worship leader wowed with a rendition of “Goodness of God” on American Idol. The young man demonstrated his considerable musical gifts and talents with a beautiful performance of the praise and worship song that is near and dear to the hearts of many. Watch the short but jaw-dropping clip to see and hear the worship leader, 27-year-old Jordan McCullough, perform “Goodness of God.”

Many people believe they have what it takes to succeed and even win the top spot on America’s Got Talent, The Voice and American Idol. Having confidence in oneself and abilities is a good thing, but the fact remains that many more people will try out for those programs than win them. Hundreds, possibly even thousands, audition every year, but there is still only ever one winner.

Judges, while they may not enjoy doing it, have to decide who makes the cut and who goes home. They say who gets on the show and who does not meet the standard, using their decades of combined experience in the music and entertainment business to guide their decisions. That’s precisely what the judges – Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan – do on American Idol. They are tasked with making those tough choices.

However, moments after one young man began singing, it was clear he would be sent through to the next week on American Idol. Jordan, a worship leader, sang the beloved favorite “Goodness of God,” and it was terrific. His voice and entire performance were angelic, a heavenly voice, for sure. You could listen to this young man sing anything.

He had the judges completely and utterly captivated. All three had massive smiles. Additionally, Carrie Underwood was mouthing the iconic tune right along with Jordan. Lionel was clearly blown away by the worship, saying “wow” to himself several times during the audition.

Jordan is definitely something to remember and keep an eye on as the competition progresses.

Jordan Smith Powerful, Soul-Stirring ‘It Is Well with My Soul’ Live Performance

Check out this powerful and soul-stirring performance from Jordan Smith of the song ‘It Is Well with My Soul.’ His rendition of this hymn is so beautiful and will leave you feeling encouraged. What a talented singer with such a warm and soothing voice!

‘When peace like a river attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
"It is well, it is well with my soul."’

Jordan Smith, winner of season 9 of The Voice, has a new album, The People’s Hymnal, featuring a dynamic collection of familiar Gospel standards reimagined. His rendition of ‘It Is Well with My Soul’ is one of the songs on the album. This collection of live performances captures Jordan’s heart for worship with soulful vocals and stories behind the music.

As for the hymn ‘It Is Well with My Soul,’ it was written by Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. And the beautiful words of the song were written after traumatic events that happened in Horatio’s life.

During the great Chicago Fire of 1871, Horatio Spafford lost his entire fortune, and his son even died shortly before the fire. More heartbreaking events soon followed.

Hymnologist Kenneth Osbeck tells the story: “Desiring a rest for his wife and four daughters, Spafford planned a European trip for his family in 1873. In November of that year, due to unexpected last-minute business developments, he had to remain in Chicago, but sent his wife and four daughters on ahead as scheduled on the S.S. Ville du Havre. He expected to follow in a few days. On November 22, the ship was struck by the Lochearn, an English vessel, and sank in twelve minutes. Several days later, the survivors were finally landed at Cardiff, Wales, and Mrs. Spafford cabled her husband, ‘Saved alone.’”

‘It Is Well with My Soul’ was said to have been written by Horatio on his journey to go join his wife, in the area of the ocean where the ship carrying his daughters had sunk.

What a beautiful song to be written out of such heartbreak. We hope that you enjoyed listening to Jordan Smith’s rendition of ‘It Is Well with My Soul’ today.

Stunning Bluegrass Rendition of ‘I’ll Fly Away’ You Need to Hear

Check out this stunning bluegrass rendition of ‘I’ll Fly Away’ and be encouraged today! In the video, the cast of the series Grassroots to Bluegrass, which features dozens of bluegrass legends, comes together to sing this gospel classic. It’s a wonderful rendition that will bring a smile to your face!

‘Some glad morning when this life is o'er
I'll fly away
To a home on God’s celestial shore
I'll fly away’

What a great bluegrass performance of this beloved hymn! The series Grassroots to Bluegrass was filmed in 1999 and featured 27 Bluegrass artists singing and telling the stories that made Bluegrass what it is today. The 8-episode series was full of live stories and music from the biggest names in Bluegrass history, and many of them were part of this rendition of ‘I’ll Fly Away.’

“What a joyous throng of talent for this classic. I've never heard it more powerfully done,” writes one person online after listening to the talented bluegrass musicians perform this rendition of ‘I’ll Fly Away.’

As for this wonderful hymn, it was written in 1929 by Albert E. Brumley and published in 1932. Albert Brumley took three years to write the song after getting the idea while picking cotton on his father's farm in Rock Island, Oklahoma.

‘I’ll Fly Away’ has been called the most recorded gospel song in history, and it is frequently used in worship services by Baptists, Pentecostals, Nazarenes, the Churches of Christ, and many Methodists. It is also a standard song at bluegrass jam sessions and is often performed at funerals, including jazz funerals in the New Orleans tradition. Numerous artists have recorded the song, including Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson, and the Gaither Vocal Band.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to this classic hymn today and it was able to bring you some joy!

Timeless Hymn ‘Blessed Assurance’ Moving Rendition

This rendition of the timeless hymn “Blessed Assurance” will move you. It’s a beautiful and powerful performance of a tune that is near and dear to the hearts of many. Watch this short but chilling clip to listen to this dazzling performance of “Blessed Assurance.”

This world is a fallen and lost place, full of people who are hurting and struggling, hoping just to make it through another day. They are hunting and searching for answers, for a solution, anything to alleviate their pain momentarily. Soon after discovering their temporary “solutions,” their pain, hurt, sorrow and grief return.

Many people on this Earth are living their lives completely and utterly lost, without a glimmer of hope. But that does not have to be the case, because there is an answer to their problem, a permanent solution to whatever is ailing them: Jesus Christ. He went to the cross, suffered an agonizing and horrible death for them, for you and for me – for everyone.

Without Him, we have no hope, but with His love and forgiveness, we can have assurance that once our time on this Earth is over, we’ll spend eternity with Him. In a clip posted on YouTube, a choir and a congregation sing “Blessed Assurance,” a hymn, which is a favorite of many, about the assurance found in Christ alone. We can know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we have been forgiven of our sin and that Heaven awaits us.

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood”

Even if that old hymn is not one of your favorites, the song’s lyrics and message are as powerful, moving and relevant as when they were first put onto paper. God’s love, mercy and forgiveness are available to all who call upon His name.

1 John 5:13 “I have put these things in writing for you who have faith in the name of the Son of God, so that you may be certain that you have eternal life.”

for KING & COUNTRY on Grace, Growth, and Writing Songs They’ve Truly Lived

In this honest and heartfelt conversation, for KING & COUNTRY open up about how their journey with Jesus has grown and deepened through every season of life. From childhood faith to adult struggles, they talk about embracing the mystery of God, learning not to take grace for granted, and discovering fresh mercy every morning. Joel shares how perfectionism, shame, and the pressure to “do it right” are met with overwhelming redemption and love — and how that truth continues to shape both his life and his music. It’s also why their songs take time. For them, the lyrics aren’t imagined — they’re lived. The highest highs, the lowest lows, family, faith, and real-life moments all become the soundtrack behind the music they create. Because at the end of the day, they’re not chasing catchy songs — they’re chasing songs that change lives.

‘It Is Well with My Soul’ was said to have been written by Horatio on his journey to go join his wife, in the area of the ocean where the ship carrying his daughters had sunk.
