FAA expects busiest Thanksgiving in 15 years

With the government shutdown over and flights back in the air, federal officials say Thanksgiving travel is about to hit its highest levels in more than a decade. The FAA is preparing for over 360,000 flights during the holiday period, making it the agency’s busiest Thanksgiving in 15 years. The TSA also expects a surge, with more than 17.8 million passengers projected to pass through airport security checkpoints. Experts warn that winter weather could disrupt major airports, so travelers are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely and plan ahead. For those driving, AAA recommends checking your vehicle before hitting the road and doing your best to avoid peak traffic times.

President Donald Trump has announced plans to renovate the two golf courses at Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington, D.C. Trump has tapped legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus to lead the redesign of the courses, according to SRN News. Details about the timeline and scope of the renovations have not yet been released. Pope Calls For Release Of Kidnapping Victims In Nigeria

The Vatican is calling for the immediate release of hundreds of students and teachers still being held after a mass kidnapping in Nigeria. Authorities say 50 of the 303 children abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State have now escaped. The children, aged 10 to 18, made their way out individually between Friday and Saturday and have been reunited with their families. However, more than 250 children, along with a dozen teachers, remain missing after gunmen attacked the remote Papiri community on Friday. No group has claimed responsibility for the abductions. On Sunday, Pope Francis publicly called for the immediate release of all those still held captive.
