5 Powerful Reminders from Psalm 46

1. God Is Your Help Now
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
Always, at all times, and in every way, God is your help in times of trouble. When your heart is hurting, your mind is struggling, and your body is reeling, the Lord is your strength. Do you believe this today?
So often, we turn to every other source we can find. We look for instant answers on Google, opinions from social media, and experiences from other people. And certainly, there’s a time and place for seeking outside help. But as the Psalmist said in Psalm 121:2, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
In your present circumstances, the ones that feel too big to handle, help is on the way. Run to your safe refuge, the Rock of your salvation. Jesus is your sure foundation. Receive His help now by praying, “Lord, please provide exactly what is needed at this time. I trust You to come through for me!”
In your quiet time, list the ways God has helped you in the past. Don’t overthink it, just write. Recall the ways He has come through for you when no one else could.

2. The Earth Gives Way, but God Does Not
“Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” (Psalm 46:2-3)
Daily, we hear about world events that cause our hearts to beat a little faster. And although we have the Scriptures foretelling the end times, we remain unsettled when we read about natural disasters or rumors of war.
Thankfully, God knows all about it. He sees the beginning from the end and isn’t rattled one bit. Our Heavenly Father comforts us amidst tumultuous times. “Though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,” our God remains steadfast through it all.
No matter how bad things get, we have nothing to fear. We truly don’t. Yes, we’re vulnerable to unpredictable situations, but in God, we have a sure foundation and holy refuge. He is not shaken. Not by anything.
To replace fear, pray aloud, “Father God, in the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I command fear to be far from me. I refuse to partner with fear any longer. I only partner with the word of Your truth.”

Lord, though the earth gives way, You remain my constant source of stability. Thank You for keeping me steadfast in Christ Jesus. Amen.
3. God Is With and Within You
“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day…The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” (Psalm 46:5,7)
The miraculous hand of God upon His people never ceases to amaze me. To think that God is with us and dwells within us is almost too much to fathom. Yet we experience His living presence in the mightiest of ways. Praise be to the Lord Most High!
Let the powerful reminder of Psalm 46:5 & 7 bring you great comfort. The Holy Spirit dwells within you; you will not fall. Every new morning, God’s mercies await. It’s a chance to start fresh and live from a place of victory. The Lord Almighty is with you. Even when you cannot feel His presence, you can trust that He is there.

4. He Is Still on the Move
“Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.” (Psalm 46:8-9)
Where are You, God? How can this be happening?
All of us have questions for God, wondering why He allows or causes certain things to happen. I used to think it was wrong to question Him, and in some instances, it might be. However, sincerely inquiring of Him when we’re hurting or confused is the absolute best thing to do.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” The Lord knows just what to do with our worries, concerns, and questions. He is still on the move, in the business of righting wrongs and perfecting what concerns us. (Psalm 138:8)
We cannot always see His hand at work, but we know He never sleeps nor slumbers. Our job is to trust that He is working all things out for our good. So, when you can’t understand why the Lord is allowing certain trials, take your questions to Him. Present them with humility and expectation that He will answer according to His will.

Lord, thank You for bearing with my questions and concerns. You never turn me away from seeking You! I trust You to work all things out for my good, in Jesus’ name, amen.
5. God Invites You to Be Still
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)
When was the last time you were completely still before the Lord? Without your phone, without interruption? Solitude is crucial in this chaotic, noisy world, wouldn’t you agree?
This holy invitation is open to you at all times: “Be still and know that I am God.” When you intentionally carve out time and space to sit in God’s presence, He will meet you in the most intimate of ways.
-Your heart will be mended by His great love.
-Your mind will be filled with good and precious promises.
-Your body will be healed by His comforting touch.
Schedule regular meetings with the Lord. Put them on your calendar as can’t-miss appointments. Find a quiet place to simply be in His presence and receive His blessings. The invitation is ongoing.
