Celebrities, Ministry Leaders, Elected Officials Gather to Read Bible in Celebration of America's 250th Anniversary

The countdown to America’s official 250th anniversary has begun, and there are many events in the planning stages leading up to the celebration of that historic day. One event in particular, America Reads the Bible, involves the reading of God’s Word for 7 days straight at The Museum of the Bible among a large group of approximately 500 celebrities, ministry leaders, and elected officials.

The America Reads the Bible event will take place from Saturday, April 18, 2026, through Saturday, April 25, 2026, with a live streaming of the event beginning at 7 pm Eastern time. Great American Pure Flix will be responsible for the live streaming as the event kicks off.

Opening Ceremony and Notable Readers

A few notable names that will be involved in the opening ceremony include Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Middle), representatives from Congress and the Administration, and Candace Cameron Bure (Christian actress and CEO of CandyRock Entertainment), according to The Christian Newswire.p

A few of many notable readers who will be involved throughout the week include Governor Greg Abbott (48th Governor of Texas), Franklin Graham (Samaritan’s Purse), Senator Jim Banks (U.S. Senator from Indiana), David and Tim Barton (WallBuilders), Dr. Scott Barfoot (Dallas Theological Seminary), Jonathan Cahn (Hope of the World, Author, Pastor, Messianic Jewish Rabbi), Danny Gokey (Worship Leader), Kathy Ireland (Business Icon, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist), and many more, according to the America Reads the Bible website.

Encouraging Christians to Impact the Culture

The founder of the event, Bunni Pounds of Christians Engaged has a passion to “awaken, educate, and empower believers in Jesus Christ to pray for our nation and elected officials regularly, vote in every local, state, and national election to impact our culture, and engage our hearts in civic education or involvement for the well-being of our local communities and our nation,” according to the Christians Engaged website.

“National leaders from every sphere of influence will testify to their dependence on the Bible as some of the busiest people on the planet and call America back to God’s Word daily,” Pounds told The Christian Newswire.

“We believe the Word of God, simply read and listened to, can transform hearts, families, communities, and nations,” Pounds added. “We’re inviting Americans to listen or read aloud together in a powerful act of unity and faith for our 250th Birthday of America.”

The inspiration for the event came from the book of Ezra, in which God’s Word was publicly read and inspired a revival among God’s people.
