JD Vance Declares Affordability Awaits Americans in 2026

The recent gains that the Democrats have made for seats in the House and Senate are making the White House nervous about 2026 midterms. In total, Democrats have gained 25 seats according to Bolts. With midterm elections hanging in the balance for next year, and a large number of Americans still feeling the pinch of inflation and the cost of living, Vice President J.D. Vance and President Donald Trump are embarking on a one year tour to attempt to point out to Americans that things are getting better and not worse, according to Daily Caller.
Trump tended to go from the angle of blaming the Biden administration for the current state of the economy. However, Vance made his best attempt to empathize with frustrated voters regarding that issue during an Allentown, Pennsylvania rally last week.
“We’ve got to stay with it. We’ve got to keep on working. We inherited a mess,” Vance said, according to CNN.
Why Vance Believes 2026 Will be Different
He went on to promise voters that 2026 would bring a marked difference for them in experiencing some relief from high prices, and that they would experience other financial benefits because of provisions that will be implemented in 2026 as a result of the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
During a Fireside Chat with Breitbart’s Michael Boyle, Vance willingly admitted that November’s government shutdown, (which he blamed on the democrats, accusing them of holding Americans hostage) didn’t help the economy. At the same time, he pointed out that, “…we get it, and we hear you, and we know that there’s a lot of work to do.”
He also noted that, “This economy was not harmed in 10 months…and as much progress as we’ve made, it’s going to take a little bit of time for every American to feel that economic boom, which we really do believe is coming.”
Polls Show Negative Consumer Sentiment, Report Shows Economic Shift Coming
A Marist Poll reported last week that 61 percent of Americans feel that the present economy isn’t good for them, personally. Some of the top concerns include cost of living in their area (70%), being able to pay for healthcare (54%), and prices (45%).
Only 44 percent of Americans feel their financial situation has remained the same over the past 12 months, and 35 percent feel it has gotten worse. At the same time, 47 percent feel their monthly income matches their expenses, with only 22 percent feeling very or completely satisfied with their savings.
Perhaps one of the biggest concerns for the White House is that 52 percent of Americans believe the United States is in a recession.
Likewise, a Fox News poll last week found that 72 percent of Americans rate the country’s economic conditions as poor or only fair, with 44 percent who admit they are falling behind financially. As for inflation and high prices, Fox found that 90 percent of voters are extremely or very concerned, and 86 percent of voters are concerned or extremely concerned about healthcare prices.
While Americans may not be feeling especially optimistic yet, Breitbart seems to be backing Vance’s claim that better days are ahead. The inflation report that came out last week indicated that there was a major decline in inflation for November, and wages are beginning to rise. All that being said, consumer sentiment, spending, and their employment situation play an important part in both the economy and what happens at the ballot box.
