God’s love is constant, consistent, and steadfast. Despite our continual flaws, sin, and tendency to become distant from God, God’s love draws us closer back to Him. In a world where giving and receiving love is often conditional and fleeting, God’s love is stable, healing, comforting, and a source of refuge.

While we may not always “feel” God’s love, the Bible reminds and reaffirms to us that God’s love is unfailing, unmovable, and unconditional. God’s love cannot be compared to human, relational love because there is no comparison. When you need a reminder that God’s love is a powerful presence in your life, here are five beautiful verses that serve as confirmation.

1. John 3:16

1. John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

While John 3:16 may be a familiar verse for many Christians, it serves as a reminder that God’s love for us is so deep that He gave up his only son, Jesus, on the cross so that we may have new life. God’s love is sacrificial and beyond our human understanding. For those that confess and believe in God, His love continues throughout eternity.

The magnitude of God’s love for humanity is demonstrated by the selfless act of Jesus Christ to die for our sins. God’s love is an active presence in our lives and matures through varying seasons. God’s love is not moved by the storms of life and is a present help and comfort to us during the difficulties of life.

2. Psalm 136:26

2. Psalm 136:26

“Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:26).

God’s love endures forever and that is great news today! Unlike human relational love that is temporal, seasonal and conditional, God’s love is eternal and steadfast. Beyond our human understanding and into eternity, God’s love endures. Despite the season you may be facing, I invite you to take comfort in the assurance that God’s love will cover, strengthen, and comfort you.

While it is easy for human love to fade and dissipate, God’s love sustains through every circumstance. God won’t leave us in our darkest moments; God’s love will strengthen us when we are weak. When life gets tough, God’s love doesn’t waver.

3. Romans 5:8

3. Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God’s love is not affected by or afraid of our mess. Despite our sin, God’s love motivated and instructed Christ to die for us. This is an amazing selfless love. God didn’t wait for humanity to get ourselves fully together before Christ died on the cross. In our messiness, Jesus still loves us.

God loves us so much that He wants us to live in freedom from the bondage of sin. There is no greater love for us demonstrated than Jesus dying on the cross. God’s love is unfailing and God embraces us continually, despite our sinful nature. We are reminded and strengthened by God’s reliable and relentless love.

4. 1 Peter 5:7

4. 1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

God loves and cares for us so much that He desires to carry our burdens for us. God doesn’t want us to carry the weight of the world or our lives alone. During difficult times when we don’t know where to turn or don’t have the strength to move forward, God’s infinite love will guide and direct us.

God’s word will encourage, uplift, and carry us. His love provides life, hope, and peace to our anxieties and weary souls. Due to God’s steadfast love for us, we don’t have to carry our burdens alone and God will provide us with the strength to overcome each obstacle.

5. Romans 8:39

5. Romans 8:39

“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).

Romans 8:39 reminds and reassures us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. When the love of others falls short, or we turn away from God, God’s love stays the same. God’s love is present with us through the joys, trials, and adversities of life. God’s love transcends into eternity and always draws us back into relationship with Him.

May you find peace and comfort in the assurance that nothing can separate you from God’s love. While you may not feel God’s love, it is always present. When others condemn or turn their back on you, God lovingly forgives, is merciful, and wants you to be free.
