That’s You, Who I Pray For – song by Roy Nelson Hoke ©
As I open up that old, guitar case again
I Look into a past, where my life begins
To Pick up that old, guitar and tune it up
And let the music, play until it’s enough
I did not, plan it that way
Some how that’s the way, the music flowed
Again, as I look, at that old guitar
In my heart, the music is still playing
Chorus:
That’s you, that I pray for, You’re not a memory in my mind
That’s you, that I sing for, someone whom I love, That’s you

Some of the music, is quite happy
Some of the music, is quite sad
Still as I can remember, the years of playing
I cannot forget, the main one I have
I did not, plan it that way
Somehow, that’s the way, the music flowed
Again, as I look, at that old guitar
In my heart, the music is still playing
Chorus: 1 and 2 times
As I open up that old, guitar case again
I look into a past, where my life begins
To pick up that old guitar and tune it up
And let the music, play until it’s enough

Praying for Good over evil - God Bless

I've been gloriously set free! (Aage Samuelsen)

Karl Marx wrote: "for a soul destroyed by sin I know of no better remedy than the Gospel of Jesus Christ". Surprising words from the founder of Communism, who turned away from Christianity, but could not deny its power. And that power touched and turned round the life of Aage Samuelsen, an alcoholic delivered from his addiction, (despite one notorious stumble). He was a natural, though unschooled musical talent and wrote over a hundred songs, a handful of which are real treasures. This is one of them.
Emilie Lindberg is the Swedish singer who is regularly the guest, and sometimes the lead artist at concerts, and her lively performance enhances an already uplifting song. I love her ability to encourage and draw in her audience

4th Movement (vv.18-22) - Piano Suite On The 33rd Psalm by Samuel Iglesias

FOURTH MOVEMENT - Verses 18 through 22.

ABSTRACT FROM THE LISTENING GUIDE BELOW
For full Listening Guide, go to bit.ly/33rdpsalm

Overview:
The musicality of this movement is taken in two simultaneous directions. On one end, it’s following the arguments verse by verse throughout the music. On the other end, it is quoting the main theme of the suite very consistently because it’s the conclusive movement of the suite. As part of this general direction, the music is intentionally attempting to provide a purer sense of glory and the beauty of the Lord’s everlasting love.

0:00 to 1:01 – He stands for us (v.18):
The idea of playing the main theme of the suite in the very beginning of this movement not only refers to the project itself, but also to how this conclusive section relates to the first verse of the psalm as it speaks about the fate of the righteous in that they fear and stand with the Lord (v.1, v.18). The music in this portion is pretty much self-explanatory regarding the feeling and emotional emphasis being taken from the verses...

3rd Movement (vv.10-17) - Piano Suite On The 33rd Psalm by Samuel Iglesias

THIRD MOVEMENT - Verses 10 through 17.

ABSTRACT FROM THE LISTENING GUIDE BELOW
For full Listening Guide, go to bit.ly/33rdpsalm

0:00 to 0:45 –Failure (v.10):
This theme and harmony express both emotional and physical scenes. The emotional feelings are stress, panic, chaos, defeat, and the anxiety of things simply going wrong. The physical scenes give context and greater meaning to these emotions. One of the scenes I imagine and relate to is the battlefield and its adrenaline-filled atmosphere created from war. Losing a battle and being surrounded by death produces a dramatic but real and stressful tragedy. This is one way we can see a “plan of a nation” being frustrated (v.10). On the other hand, I was very conscious that this portion of the psalm is not only referring to personal, human experiences but to massive, political issues. Therefore, the same theme also represents a political crisis that no king or ruler (like David) would like to be involved with: every project, every battle, every assignment, every subordinate is not working out; and there’s nothing anyone can do about it since it’s a decree from God...

2nd Movement (vv.6-9) - Piano Suite On The 33rd Psalm by Samuel Iglesias

SECOND MOVEMENT - Verses 6 through 9.

ABSTRACT FROM THE LISTENING GUIDE BELOW
For full Listening Guide, go to bit.ly/33rdpsalm

0:00 to 1:14– The creation (vv.6-7a):
The sensation that I implemented in the beginning of this part is stellar and abundant with enormous awe. Because this and the next few verses refer to creation, I can’t avoid thinking of the beginning of Genesis 1. In the same appreciation, I refer to God’s creation in a mystic and infinite essence – before anything other than Him ever existed. At 0:52, His word and creational
power take more shape, as “through his word the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host” (v6). This is also true about the creation of the water of the sea (v.7a)...

1st Movement (vv.1-5) - Piano Suite On The 33rd Psalm by Samuel Iglesias

ABSTRACT FROM THE LISTENING GUIDE BELOW
For full Listening Guide, go to bit.ly/33rdpsalm

0:00 to 0:17 – This first rolled chord —an Ab maj7—, I call it “the essence” chord. Besides the fact that it’s being rolled like a harp instrument (like the lyre), it creates an effect that can be defined as relevant, mysterious, interesting, and thrilling, setting an intriguing context for the notes that follow...

(Chorus)
I see the love you've given me.
I feel the strength you bring to me.
I need you now and every day.
I know you're with me always.

Barking dogs and meowing cats.
Yapping so loud we can't hear
Your quiet voice that speaks to us.
Help us open up our ears!

We kneel down and pray to you,
Praying for the little things we need.
The item we should truly have

Is the will to overcome our greed.

We block out the subtle voice
To concentrate on something important to us.
We need to listen to rejoice
With the one who's glorious!

If ever you should find Emptiness in your life,
A hole in your heart That needs to be filled.
There's a solution, see, One who brought joy to me.
Let Him into your heart And you'll be healed!

Rejoicing Retrostyle - God's Son has set me free

Joy can take many forms: extrovert and more contained and subdued. The rejoicing here is the subdued and hidden kind. You must taste it to grasp it properly. Let the words do their work: retro it may be -to say the least! but it is filled with assurance and gladness. The melody is from Heddal in Norway, and a choral version of it was made by Edvard Greig. However, I prefer the original as the underlying joy comes better into focus. I have therefore stuck to an early form. In addition I have translated it anew to the best of my skill, to reflect the original text more closely both in content and style and, knowing the original text and the alternative translations, I am happy with my product.
The soloist is a well-known performer on the Hardanger fiddle.
