Ten people face attempted murder charges after a shooting outside a Texas immigration detention center. Acting U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson says the group, dressed in black military-style clothing, staged the “planned ambush” on Friday. A local police officer was shot in the neck but has since been treated and released. Larson said Monday the group used fireworks to lure U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel outside the center in Alvarado, where they opened fire. Weapons, body armor, and anti-ICE materials were found at the scene. Some suspects were arrested nearby. They were armed and wearing tactical gear. Larson says they face multiple charges, including attempted murder and firearm offenses.

Former President Joe Biden’s physician has asked to delay his testimony before the House oversight committee this week, citing the need for an agreement that will respect doctor-patient confidentiality rules as part of the investigation into Biden's health in office. Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who served as Biden’s physician at the White House, requested a delay until the end of July or early August “to reach an accommodation that will protect the very substantial privilege and confidentiality interests of Dr. O’Connor and former President Biden,” according to a letter from his lawyer sent to Rep. James Comer of Kentucky on Saturday. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the letter. A spokesperson for Oversight Republicans said the committee will follow the House’s deposition guidelines, which allow for witnesses to assert privilege on a question-by-question basis, with the committee chair ruling on each claim. A fire burned in a hilly area of California’s Laguna Beach on Monday (July 7), with plumes of smoke rising into the air, video and still photographs from the Newport Beach Fire Department showed. Reuters was able to verify the location as the terrain matched the street view images, as well as the metadata of the original video. The date was verified by the metadata of the original video. Officials had also announced an evacuation order in the area due to the wildfire on Monday. The Rancho Fire began at around 2:15 p.m. (2115 GMT) on Monday when a vegetation fire broke out in a hillside area, local media reported. The fire was contained to an area of approximately 4 acres (1.62 hectares), Newport Beach Fire Department told Reuters in an email. Authorities said the blaze may have been caused by fireworks, local media reported.
