ICE Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Lying About Shooting

McALLEN, Texas (AP) — A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer has been ordered released from federal custody after pleading not guilty to lying to investigators about the circumstances that led to the shooting of a Venezuelan man during the Minnesota immigration crackdown last winter. The federal indictment unsealed Friday accuses Christian Castro of falsely telling investigators that he was attacked with a broom and shovel before he opened fire, injuring Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis in January. Castro was shackled at his wrists, waist and feet during a brief hearing in Texas’ federal court after he turned himself into authorities Thursday evening. The judge ordered him released on $75,000 unsecured bond and a GPS ankle monitor.

White House Debuts Retro Arcade Video Games Promoting Trump's Agenda

WASHINGTON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - The White House has released a new "arcade" website where users play 1980s-style video games that block "the coming horde" at the U.S.-Mexico border, fill Trump Accounts for children and pursue other priorities of President Donald Trump. "CAN'T STOP WINNING. ..Build the wall. Deport. Fill a Trump Account," the White House posted on X, announcing the gaming site's debut on Thursday. The site features five retro-style games with one more "coming soon." In the "Build the Wall" game, players facing a "zombie border siege" stack Tetris-style bricks to "protect the border from the coming horde." When the bricks pile up, the screen flashes the message "border breached". In a separate game called "Rio Run," players maneuver a white figure to "patrol the line along the river," moving to block and deport figures appearing to depict immigrants. In other games, players can catch money to fill Trump Accounts, the investment plan for children, sort school lunches "to Make America Healthy Again" and fly a bald eagle through obstacles along the National Mall.

On Thursday, Iran fired at U.S. ally Kuwait in retaliation for U.S. strikes. But Vance on Thursday emphasized the U.S. responsibility to act against Iran's targeting of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and said he “wouldn’t call” the conflict “a war.” The conflict has impacted oil prices, which remain high. The U.S. Navy is reporting great success escorting oil-carrying vessels through the strait, but traffic is well below prewar levels. President Donald Trump's focus is increasingly on economic pressure, aiming to maintain control without returning to the full-throttle bombardment of Iran.
